Services – Dental Implants

A dental implant is a long lasting solution to replace a missing tooth. Dental implants are strong and durable, with the appearance and feel of a natural tooth. With dental implants, there are no diet restrictions, and the replacement tooth feels comfortable with similar function to your existing tooth.

What are Dental Implants?

While dental implants are not exactly a new technology, their popularity has increased in recent years because of their ability to restore oral health while simultaneously providing a beautiful, natural-looking, and permanent smile.

A tooth’s natural structure is made up of the crown and the root. An implant is very similar. Both have a crown (the visible part of your tooth that you see when you smile) and a root beneath the gum, holding the tooth securely to the jaw. An implant is about the same size as the tooth’s natural roots.

Traditionally, implants are made of titanium. This is a medical grade metal that bonds to your natural or grafted bone, creating a strong foundation for the artificial crown to be placed on. Core Dental Group also offers zirconia implants. These implants are designed for a holistic, metal free restoration.

The Crown

An implant supported crown must be placed after the implant has fully healed in order to complete the restoration of the missing tooth. As the crown is the visible part of the tooth when you smile, it is fully customizable (size, shape, color) and will match your smile, seamlessly blending in. The crown is usually made with porcelain material. The completed restoration leaves you with a natural looking, fully functioning, and permanent restoration.

Finding a Solution Begins With Information

The most important thing you can do for your failing or missing teeth is to understand your condition. When you know your condition, you will know exactly what’s available for you to solve the problem.

At your consultation, you’ll meet with a dentist who will explain each part of the procedure in detail to you. Our treatment coordinator will help you schedule appointments and understand the fees associated with treatment.

This includes:
1. Helping you understand your current dental condition;
2. Developing a personalized treatment plan; and
3. Delivering a fixed cost. Schedule a complimentary consultation.

Implant FAQ:

What is the healing time?
After placing the implant, we often have to wait 4-5 months for the bone to fuse to the implant before we make the final crown. In this healing phase, it is important

Do I have enough bone?
If it has been a while since the tooth was lost, some of the natural bone begins to shrink away as it is no longer needed to support the tooth. In some cases, we may have to do a minor bone graft in order to aid your body in replacing the missing tissue. This is usually not a complex procedure, but it does require several or even months to heal and this is usually not a complex procedure.

How long does an implant last?
Dental implants are designed to last a long time. The crown that sits on top of the implant may need to be replaced over time as they wear. Occasionally, the body will reject an implant being placed and it may need to be removed. Most implants provide a long-term, safe and effective replacement for a missing tooth.

Do implants require special care?
Care for your dental implant as you would your natural teeth. Implants should be brushed and flossed, as well as cleaned by your hygienist at your regular scheduled cleanings. Water flossers can be a great addition to your oral hygiene routine with an implant.
